Draft Statement on Consumer and Community Involvement in Health and Medical Research
Overview
The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and the Consumers Health Forum of Australia (CHF) are working together to review the 2016 Statement on Consumer and Community Involvement in Health and Medical Research (the Statement).
Following consultations in 2024 that sought views and opinions on how the Statement could be improved, NHMRC and CHF have released a draft revised Statement.
Revising the Statement provides an opportunity to streamline and refocus the content to help to shape consumer and community involvement policy at all levels into the future. It emphasises the principles and values of consumer and community involvement and the roles and responsibilities of all involved in health and medical research.
To view the draft Statement please see the 'Related' section below.
We encourage you to share your views on the draft Statement by completing the online survey linked below.
If you would like to prepare your responses offline and enter them later, you may download a Word version of the questions as they appear in the survey in the 'Related' section below.
There is also an opportunity to attend face-to-face and online roundtables to provide your feedback on the draft Statement in an open forum. Please visit The Kids Research Institute Australia website to view the workshop schedule and register your interest.
Why your views matter
The Statement intends to provide guidance to everyone involved in research, including consumers, community representatives, researchers, research institutes and funders.
Contributions to this survey will help inform the final Statement, and we value the diverse perspectives of all interested stakeholders.
If you would like to receive updates on the review of the Statement and other opportunities for involvement, please subscribe to the Consumer Statement contact list by following the link 'About the review' under the 'Related' section below.
