Questions
Q1. Is the draft Information Paper presented and written in a manner that is easy to understand?:

Not entirely

Q2. Does the draft Information Paper clearly outline how the evidence was reviewed and interpreted by NHMRC?:

Not very well at all

Q3. Is there additional evidence on any health or health-related effects specifically related to distance from wind turbines or exposure to emissions from wind turbines?:

Yes as submissions for the Draft Information Paper closed on 28th September 2012 which makes it TOTALLY IRRELEVANT to current health impacts and conditions at wind farms recently constructed around Australia, given that the wind farms proposed/under construction and operating in rural Australia  post 28th September are mostly 3 megawatt turbines.

The Draft Information Paper is TOTALLY IRRELEVANT to the Macarthur wind farm in s.w. Victoria, as this wind farm did not commence operation until early October 2012, after submissions closed.  The conditions at the Waterloo wind farm in South Australia were reviewed by this paper, but this is NOT INDICATIVE of other wind farms, particularly the Macarthur Vic. wind farm which comprises of 140 turbines of 3 megawatts, in GRID FASHION.

In order for the NHMRC report to have any credence, multi-disciplinary research MUST BE CARRIED OUT at the Macarthur wind farm, as this is the largest wind farm in the southern hemisphere.  The turbines have been placed far too close to each other NOT in accordance with the makers' specifications and as a result the health impacts are numerous.

The NHMRC MUST come to visit Macarthur.  The NHMRC has NOT visited Macarthur.  The NHMRC has NOT interviewed any persons who feel the impact from the turbines at the Macarthur wind farm.

The NHMRC MUST carry out multi-disciplinary research at the Macarthur wind farm - there are more than 200 families living in the vicinity of this enormous wind farm potentially impacted.

This research MUST include, but not be restricted to

acousticians

psychoacousticians

neurologists

ear/nose/throat specialists

psychiatrists/psychologists

cardiovascular specialists

endocrinologists

rural general practitioners.

This multi-disciplinary research MUST BE CARRIED OUT IMMEDIATELY.

The NHMRC must commission the Victorian Health Department to carry out Health Impact Assessments on ALL residents within 9 kilometres of the nearest turbines at the Macarthur wind farm.

The NHMRC MUST go out into the field and carry out essential research on health impacts, which it HAS NOT DONE.

The NHMRC MUST NOT publish yet another report literally claiming there literally are not any health impacts from wind turbines.  There are THOUSANDS of rural Australians severely impacted by both audible noise, and low frequency noise/infrasound from wind turbines and that number is RAPIDLY GROWING.

There are many, many families living in the vicinity of the Macarthur wind farm who would most willingly participate in comprehensive research and offer themselves for the multi-disciplinary studies by the specialists listed above, and more.  These people will alow the NHMRC into their homes.  There are multitudes of people severely impacted by wind farms in Australia, most recently at Macarthur.

My husband and I would gladly take part in investigation into the health impacts of the 140 massive turbines at Macarthur, which are causing people severe SLEEP DEPRIVATION in addition to vast other health symptoms.

In late 2013 a preliminary health survey was carried out around the Macarthur wind farm site.  The results were just astounding, particularly given that a majority of families in this vicinity have actually been sworn to silence having signed up for other prospective wind farms close by.  This health survey is available on the Waubra Foundation website.

How about the NHMRC carry out their own health survey in this district ?

Q4. Is there additional evidence on the likely level of exposure to emissions produced by wind farms at nearby residences? :

There is a great deal of additional evidence on the likely level of exposure to emissions produced by wind farms at nearby residences at the Macarthur wind farm.

The NHMRC MUST carry out independent noise testing, of both background noise and infrasound/low frequency noise.  The residents of the Macarthur district have already carried out their own comprehensive noise testing, both inside and outside homes, on occasions prior to construction and post operation.

The noise testing carried out by the NHMRC MUST NOT BE CARRIED OUT by acoustic experts who are employed by the wind industry.  The NHMRC MUST employ totally independent acoustic engineers, of whom there are few in Australia unfortunately, as the majority of such have been bought off by the wind industry, and only carry out testing in accordance with wind developers' instructions.

The Draft Information Paper quotes that "noise testing was not directly measured at participants homes in any of the studies".  WHAT A DISGRACE THIS IS.  Why, the home is the very place where most residents are impacted, as infrasound resonates through the walls, the windows, the roof and the floor.  Many residents feel vibration through the floor, chairs, table and beds.  Many people experience vibration as if it were an electric charge going through their body ALL NIGHT.  Many hundreds of people are having their sleep SEVERELY DISTURBED - NIGHT AFTER NIGHT AFTER NIGHT.

Many people are having their sleep GREATLY DISTURBED due to severe ear/nose/throat/head pressure ALL NIGHT.  Several families living near the Macarthur wind farm are NOT ABLE TO STAY IN THEIR HOMES ALL WEEK.  They have been forced to go away for several nights a week to remove their bodies from the impact of the infrasound and to get a decent night's sleep.

There is a HEAP of evidence just from Macarthur.  There is also a HEAP of evidence from the Waubra wind farm, the Oaklands Hill wind farm, the Cape Bridgewater wind farm, the Leondards Hill wind farm - ALL IN VICTORIA.

The NHMRC MUST visit ALL of these wind farms, and carry out noise testing INSIDE THE HOMES OF RESIDENTS out to 8 kms.

Evidence has been found that at homes around the Macarthur wind farm, the infrasound is NOT attenuated the further out the properties are, ie. the infrasound is as STRONG 6 kilometres out, as it is in the homes closest to turbines.  See Waubra Foundation website link outlining acoustician Les Huson's testing and results indicating such.

Also see on the Waubra Foundation website the link outlining the findings of causal link between [NHMRC has removed third party information] impact symptoms and infrasound levels in his home, again recorded by acoustic expert [NHMRC has removed third party information].

Q5. Is there additional evidence on whether it is plausible that noise, shadow flicker and electromagnetic radiation (of the type and at the levels produced by wind farms) might affect healthy functioning of the human body?:

As above, see links of findings of [NHMRC has removed third party information], acoustic expert re causal link between [NHMRC has removed third party information] and infrasound data recorded in his own home.

Many residents have kept comprehensive health diaries since the first 15 turbines started operation at the Macarthur wind farm in October 2012.  This evidence would be available to the NHMRC.

A preliminary health survey was carried out at the Macarthur wind farm late in 2013.  The link for this is also on the Waubra Foundation website.

Q6. Is there additional evidence of health and health-related effects observed from other sources producing noise, shadow flicker and electromagnetic radiation of the type and at the levels produced by wind farms? :

There is additional evidence of health and health-related effects observed from other sources producing noise, shadow flicker etc. at the levels produced by wind farms.

This evidence is available from residents living in the vicinity of coal-seam gas exploration.  Also there is a multitude of evidence of such observed near radio towers, a prime example of which has been taking place near [NHMRC has removed third party information] where [NHMRC has removed third party information], and his family, on whose property a local radio tower has been erected, has been forced to move out of his farm, due to the health related effects from infrasound emitted from this tower.

There is also evidence of health related effects from NBN towers  near Ballarat.  I am able to give the NHMRC further information regarding this, should it be required.  At this stage I do not have this information at hand, but am able to supply contact persons' details.
