Appendix 3a

Please lift this ridiculous ban on gender selection! Its simply IVF with the option of choosing a desired gender, which in most cases, is to balance a family with 2 or more children of the same sex. Australians are being forced overseas for something that can be easily Performed at home. For the minority of Australians that have this desire it will in no way affect the population ratio- and considering most are willing to travel overseas for treatment means that's it's happening here anyway.

By banning sex selection here Australia is sending more money overseas, women are undergoing unnecessary multiple treatments when taking cheaper options in Thailand and gender based abortion is on the rise as finding out the sex of your baby can be done a lot earlier then 20 weeks now.

I belive not having it legalized here is doing more harm and by making it available it can be regulated and monitored. I strongly believe that opinions have changed and people now realize this is in no way designing babies. Simply family balancing with IVF. Gender disappointment is real and I would rather see babies being born then aborted for their gender. Time to start listening to the people this affects- not the ones it doesn't.
