Public Consultation on the joint NHMRC/Consumers Health Forum of Australia Ltd (CHF) draft Statement on Consumer Involvement in Health and Medical Research
The NHMRC and CHF are currently seeking feedback on the following document: Draft Statement on Consumer Involvement in Health Medical Research.
The NHMRC/Consumers Health Forum of Australia Ltd (CHF) “Statement on Consumer and Community Participation in Health and Medical Research” (the Statement) and companion Summary Statement were published in 2002. The Statement was developed jointly by NHMRC and CHF with the aim of supporting consumer and community participation across all types and levels of health and medical research. The development of the Statement was followed by the release in 2004 of two resource documents (a Resource Pack and a Model Framework) which assist researchers to implement the Statement. The aforementioned documents can be obtained from the NHMRC website.
The Statement was developed in recognition of the contribution that consumers can make to research, as well as their right to participate in research. In developing and using the Statement, consumers and researchers share a vision of working in partnerships based on understanding, respect and shared commitment to research that will improve the health of humankind.
NHMRC and CHF are now reviewing the Statement. The two organisations consider that the broad content of the original Statement is still relevant and appropriate, and are seeking to develop a revised Statement with improved language and accessibility. A revised Statement has been developed and the aim of this consultation is to see whether the aims of the revision have been achieved.
You are invited to make a submission by answering the questions listed in the online submission form. NHMRC and CHF will only give consideration to submissions that address the public consultation questions.
All submissions must be made through this online public consultation portal. If this is not possible, please contact the NHMRC Project Officer to make alternative arrangements.
PLEASE NOTE THAT EMAIL SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
