Submission Guidelines

Consultation

Public consultations listed on this site provide you with all the required information that is necessary for making a submission. This includes consultation documents, supporting resources, detail on submission methods and contact information.

Submission Method

NHMRC's preferred option for accepting submissions is ONLINE. We trust this method will be quick and simple for you. It also allows NHMRC to review and respond to your submissions more efficiently.

The alternative methods - email and post are also accepted. Please note that submissions of this type will be added as an online submission after the consultation closes for reporting and publishing purposes.

Please note material submitted to the NHMRC will not be returned. We recommend that you keep a copy of all submitted materials for your personal records.

Register

User Account

In order to make an online submission you are required to create an account using your First Name, Last Name and preferred email address. This is to ensure that your submission is secure  and only available to NHMRC for review.

When you create an account, an email will be sent to your preferred email address with a link for a one-time login. This is to verify that the email account is legitimate.

Once logged in, you will be required to personalise your password. To register please click here.

*Please ensure you enter a correct email address otherwise the system will fail to send your account information.

Password Reset

You are able to reset your own password by first logging in with the username or email address that you initially registered with. If you are having problems please contact the NHMRC Web Administrator at nhmrc.webmaster@nhmrc.gov.au.

Auto logout

To keep your information secure, you will be logged out after 30 minutes of inactivity. A message will ask you to confirm whether you would like to log out. Please note that any unsaved data will be lost once you log out, or in the event that your computer crashes.

Submission

Personal information

Please enter your contact details. Any direct contact details, e.g. phone numbers and addresses, will be redacted from the submission. Such information will not be used or disclosed for any other purpose, without prior written consent. Submissions may not be made public if personal information, including health information, about the submitter or a third party is included in the submission.

You can save your submission at this point, or proceed to the next step. Help text is provided within the form.

Online submission

Depending on the consultation you will have the ability to provide feedback on specific issues requiring particular consideration, make multiple comments on specific sections of a document, or make general comments on any aspect of the consultation.

Saving

Please note that there is no auto-save function. You must regularly save your submission.

Review & finalise

You can log back into the site and edit your submission(s) once you have saved your response. You will be able to make changes until the consultation period closes.

When you have completed your submission, you must click the ‘My submission is complete' option to submit your response. If this step is not completed your submission may not be treated as final, and therefore may not be reviewed once the consultation period closes.

After the public consultation is closed you will not be able to edit your submission. However, you will still have the ability to view your submission.

Request an extension

If you require an extension or wish to withdraw your submission, please contact the Project Officer listed as the contact for the public consultation. In order for NHMRC to extend the date of a submission you will need to have created an account and saved a draft submission on this website before making a request.

Submission on behalf of a group of individuals

NHMRC receives submissions in good faith, and assumes that if someone writes on behalf of a group, then they have the necessary approvals from said group.

Publishing submissions

In general, if a submitter provides NHMRC with permission to publish their submission on the NHMRC website, the submission will be published as soon as possible once all all administrative and committee processes have concluded.

By publishing a submission, NHMRC is not endorsing the submission and the views expressed in the submission are not necessarily the views of NHMRC.

NHMRC reserves the right to not publish any submission, or part of a submission, that contains what NHMRC determines, in its absolute discretion, to be irrelevant information or information not within the scope of NHMRC’s submission request.
