The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) has released the draft Appendix to the Australian Dietary Guidelines: The Dietary Guidelines through an environmental lens You are invited under paragraph 13(d) of the National Health and Medical Research Council Act (1992) to make a submission to the NHMRC about the draft document.
The Australian Dietary Guidelines underwent public consultation from December 2011 to 29 February 2012. To finalise the Guidelines, NHMRC seeks comment on the draft Appendix which aims to suggest an environmental perspective on the Dietary Guidelines. This may assist health practitioners answer queries from their clients about this issue. The need for such an appendix was identified at public consultation.
The draft Guidelines, as released for public consultation, are still on the NHMRC website, should you need to refer to them. However, note that the latest draft of the key Guideline recommendations are incorporated into the draft Appendix. As such they are slightly different to the public consultation version. Please note that these are still subject to changes advised by the Council of NHMRC until the Australian Dietary Guidelines are completed later in 2012. NHMRC will release the full Australian Dietary Guidelines once this appendix is finalised.

draft of the Australian Dietary Guidelines.
